Spider-Man 2 Release Date: Available In Stores From October 20

During the Summer Game Fest, Insomniac announced the release date for one of the most highly anticipated games of the moment. Peter Parker and Miles Morales will swing through the streets and skies of Manhattan (and beyond) once again, starting from October 20.
Earlier rumors suggested that Spider-Man 2 could be released in September, but fans will have to wait an extra month.
Insomniac revealed a lot of interesting information during the PlayStation Showcase, making this wait all the more challenging.

What do we know so far about Spider-Man 2?

  • Players will be able to switch between Peter Parker and Miles Morales (think GTA V’s system, but “near-instant”). There will often be moments in the game where it is determined which hero is playable, though.
  • The Black Symbiote Suit will play a significant role in the story. Spider-Man 2 will show a darker side of Peter Parker. The outfit, previously seen in the film Spider-Man 3, brings a new arsenal of attacks. Peter Parker’s fighting style becomes more ruthless and aggressive when wearing the suit.
  • The map in Spider-Man 2 will be almost twice as large as its predecessor. Manhattan Island still forms part of the backdrop, but now Queens and Brooklyn can also be saved from criminal activities.
  • Kraven the Hunter is the main enemy. Kraven’s Hunters is a new faction that we will undoubtedly encounter in large numbers. Kraven is voiced by Jim Pirri, known for his roles as Boozer (Days Gone), Birgir (God of War Ragnarök), and Angelo Bronte (Red Dead Redemption II).
  • Venom is definitely not Eddie Brock in Spider-Man 2. Brian Intihar, creative director at Insomniac Games, stated that the developer wants to tell an original story that has not been seen before. So, who is it then, you might ask? We will probably only find out deep into the upcoming adventure.
  • Pre-order starting on June 16th
  • PS5 exclusive
