Final Fantasy XVI Patch Will Fix Performance Issues

In just 5 days, it’s finally happening: Final Fantasy XVI will be playable starting from June 22nd. The immensely successful franchise has always been surrounded by a lot of hype, and that remains true for its 16th installment.

Players were overwhelmingly positive about the first 2 hours, which are playable through a demo. I’m no exception, as you can read in my demo review.

One of the small downsides were occasional frame rate drops. Not only during the spectacular battles but even sometimes during the quieter moments where you wouldn’t expect it. Fortunately, Square Enix promptly addresses these issues. Starting from June 20th, a pre-release patch of 300MB will be available to download, addressing the following issues:

  • Optimizing performance in several areas.
  • Fixing a control flag issue that could render progress impossible under very specific circumstances.
  • Fixing an issue where the game could unexpectedly close under very specific circumstances.
  • Fixing some minor text errors.

Developer Square Enix assures players who don’t have internet connectivity that they don’t need to worry. The patch is not required to dive into the game.
