Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4 announced by Bandai Namco

It’s October 2007. I come home from school, throw my coat on the rack and run upstairs with a friend. No time to waste, wishing we had Goku’s instant transmission skill to skip those twelve steps. We turn on the Playstation 2 and start up Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3. We mute the game’s background music and instead, play our own greatest Dragon Ball tracks from YouTube. To the uplifting sound of songs like Cha-La Head Cha-La, we beat each other up. Kamehamehas and destructo discs flying around us. Well, probably less destructo discs, because who would choose Krillin when we could choose Saiyan heroes like Goku, Vegeta and Gohan?

My friend and I were convinced that we were pulling off the most amazing gameplay together. We warped across the entire field, the speed was so high that we were fully immersed in the colorful world of Dragon Ball.

Yes, I was a nerd. And yesterday, after 15 and a half years, when the successor was announced by Bandai Namco, I realized that I still am. Maybe it’s time to call that old friend again when Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4 comes out. Check out the teaser below.
