Ex-Bioware executive producer Mark Darrah left Bioware in 2020 but has now returned as a consultant in the lead-up to the release of Dragon Age: Dreadwolf. Additionally, a large portion of the Mass Effect development team is being temporarily transferred. According to GamesBeat, this is possible because the next Mass Effect is still in the pre-production phase and only requires a small core team.
Bioware’s General Manager, Gary McKay, commented on this as follows:
“Our studio is focused on creating the best possible Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, while the core Mass Effect team continues its pre-production work. We are continually refining and polishing Dreadwolf, with a focus on the elements that matter most to our fans. As we further integrate this new experience with the legacy of the series, Mark Darrah will join the team as a consultant, bringing years of experience working on Dragon Age. We are proud to have a strong leadership team guiding this collaboration to achieve our vision for the game.”

Information about the game. Or better yet: lack of information
It has been known for quite a few years that we can expect a new Dragon Age. An important role will be reserved for Solas, the Dread Wolf, who we met in Dragon Age: Inquisition. But besides that, Bioware is keeping its cards close to its chest. A Reddit user did claim to have seen alpha gameplay two months ago.
The screenshots and GIF have since been removed, but the user claims that the combat would take place in real-time and would resemble the gameplay of God of War.
Hopefully, the addition of the new team members will result in more information about the game being released soon. The previous game, Dragon Age: Inquisition, was released almost 10 years ago (2014). Its sequel was announced in 2018. In 2020 we received a teaser. However, since then, we have had very little information about the game.
The title was revealed last year, confirming that Solas would play a major role. This wasn’t really shocking information though, since we could see that coming due to Inquisition’s ending. We also know that the dwarf Varric Tethras will be returning, but this also comes as no surprise after his presence in both Dragon Age II and Inquisition.
Judging by the lack of further details, it is unlikely that we will see the fourth game anytime before 2024. However, with the experienced Mass Effect team on board, we can be assured that the game is in good hands. As long as they keep their hands off the ending.
