Sony’s State of Play event, which took place on September 14th, brought a ton of Spider-Man 2 news to light. Insomniac Games‘ highly anticipated game will hit store shelves on October 20th, and the new footage is poised to give those already sky-high expectations an extra boost.
In this new footage, which runs for just under 4 minutes, Senior Creative Director Bryan Intihar provides an update on the latest developments. He delves into aspects like the available outfits, the web wings, and the expanded map, which will be almost twice the size of its predecessor.
Unfortunately, I encounter spiders of all shapes and sizes in my home, and soon, spider buddies Peter Parker and Miles Morales will be seen in countless variations as well. Insomniac announces that there are more than 65 different outfits to choose from. These are drawn from the comics, movies, and some are even entirely new designs. These can then be further customized, resulting in a staggering 200 different looks to keep the heroes fresh throughout the course of the adventure.
Similar to Marvel’s Spider-Man and Miles Morales, you’ll need to unlock the majority of these features through various missions and side activities. The new footage reveals that these missions will come through the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man app, as fans will remember from the Miles Morales expansion.
Players can also identify these activities by keeping an eye on their surroundings. Mysterious symbols or spiderbots in the sky will catch your attention. Sometimes, the activities are specific to either Peter or Miles. Other times, both heroes can tackle them. Both fast-traveling and switching between the two heroes appear almost instantaneous.
