The Ultimate Game Collision: A Ride Through The Gaming Universe

Video editor Abs4Fun has completed his ‘trilogy’ of ‘A Ride Through the Gaming Universe‘ this week. Combined, the three videos take viewers on an 8-minute journey through a vast array of top games such as God of War, The Last of Us, Detroit: Become Human, Marvel’s Spider-Man, and Red Dead Redemption 2.

Abs4Fun was inspired by his favorite editor, Gugga Leunnam, who created the popular ‘A Ride Through the MCU Action’ videos.

For ‘A Ride Through the Gaming Universe,’ Abs4Fun used Adobe Premiere Pro and a touch of After Effects.

You can watch the three videos below. If you’re curious about more information on how these videos were made, you’ll find it below the videos.

A Ride Through The Gaming Universe: The Finale

Cool, right? The first thing that came to mind when I saw the videos was, “That’s freaking awesome.” And the second thought was, “This must have taken ages to make.” The creator told me that the entire series took about 650 hours to make (the first 300 hours, the second 150 hours, and the last 200 hours).

The major challenge was to find matching frames from all the collected and recorded cutscenes. Sometimes, certain scenes seemed like a good match, but it was difficult to make the cuts seamless. That’s why Abs4Fun zooms in or out in certain scenes to make the transitions as smooth as possible. For example, take a look at the zoom-out in the third video at 2:03. The fight between Ellie and Abby is zoomed out to better match the motion with the Death Stranding scene.

The scene at 2:06 has a downwards motion to create a smoother transition from Halo to Miles Morales. And as if finding matching clips wasn’t challenging enough, they also had to work well with the music.

Abs4Fun selected the games based on the quality of their cinematic visuals. This is why you’ll mostly find single-player story mode and trailer fragments, since they provide dynamic and unique material. These cutscenes are perfect for realizing the vision the creator had in mind.
