Minds Beneath Us Promises to Be a Game Where Choices Truly Matter

There are countless games that create the illusion of choice. They present players with many decisions, but when it comes down to it, these choices influence the game’s outcome much less than the developers would have you believe (something that often becomes painfully clear after a subsequent playthrough). Exceptions aside, this applies to games like Telltale’s The Walking Dead and Mass Effect.

Indie developer Bearbone Studio promises that choices in their upcoming sci-fi thriller game ‘Minds Beneath Us‘ will actually matter. On July 31, players can experience this for themselves when the game launches on Steam.

Minds Beneath Us is set in a futuristic Asian city where society is run by advanced AI. A new industry emerges that replaces the necessary hardware to operate the internet with linked human brains. The most disadvantaged citizens have no choice but to sign up for this process. Through a point & click system, players will find themselves entangled in a mysterious conspiracy.

Throughout the adventure, players can constantly make their own dialogue choices, influencing character relationships and the story overall. Dialogues will also point you in the right direction to discover hidden clues.

Bearbone Studio stylishly combines 2D characters and 3D environments, all hand-drawn and animated. This results in an exceptionally beautiful style, which you can admire in the trailer below:
