PS5 owners will soon be able to ride on the back of a Sunwing again. Aloy will return on April 19th in the upcoming DLC, Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores. Our favorite redhead will pursue a dark threat in the untamed wilds of Los Angeles. The game, which is a direct sequel to Horizon Forbidden West, will take place in a dangerous new area south of the Tenakth Clan Lands. This area is fractured and overgrown, and there is a massive machine threat lurking in the shadows that will once again test Aloy’s skills. Developer Guerilla Games promises a good dose of new characters and adventures, as usual.
Unfortunately, fans of Horizon Forbidden West who own a PS4 will be unable to play the upcoming DLC. Director Mathijs de Jonge explains why:
“Everything we added to Horizon Forbidden West had to be optimized for PlayStation 4 as well. With Burning Shores, we can focus entirely on the PS5. As a result, we were able to make leaps and bounds and we’re very excited about how we were able to create this incredible post-post-apocalyptic version of Los Angeles.”
The urban ruins of LA and its surroundings consist of a vast amount of details and require a lot of processing power as well as fast streaming technology to run properly, especially when the player is flying over the landscape and seeing a lot at once. One of the settlements is situated amidst these ruins, and we were able to put a lot of activities into it.”
