In just under two months, starting from October 20th, we’ll be swinging through the city once again as Peter Parker and Miles Morales in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. The release is right around the corner, and more information is trickling in.
During the San Diego Comic-Con panel, Insomniac Games revealed a story trailer for their latest creation. The game takes place approximately 9 months after the events of the Miles Morales expansion.
We finally get to see Harry Osborn in person. In Marvel’s Spider-Man, we only heard voice clips of Peter’s best friend while we helped him improve the climate through the numerous side quests scattered around the city.
Furthermore, the fresh makeover of mainly Miles Morales and MJ catches the eye. Miles has gone from a close-shaved head to locks in the span of 9 months. I would love to know more about his hair products, but unfortunately, the trailer doesn’t elaborate on that.
Earlier, we were given a glimpse of the Web Wings, providing players with an extra ability to explore the skies. Senior Game Director Ryan Smith shared the following information about it on the Playstation Blog.
“We are really excited for people to try out the Web Wings,” says Smith. “For us it was a cool opportunity to bring something people have seen in comics and movies and integrate it in the game. Swinging is the core of our Spider-Man traversal, so we designed the Web Wings to work with swinging and complement it. That way you can weave back and forth between the two to build up speed and height. When you use the Web Wings with our wind tunnels, though, that’s one of the ways to go across the city super-fast and really push the speed of traversal, which was one of our goals. Thanks to the power and speed of the PS5, Web Wings, add another layer to our traversal system and change up how you look at getting around the different parts of the city.
The trailer also zooms in on the inevitable change in Peter Parker’s character. The symbiote suit brings out the darkness within him, undoubtedly putting the rest of our beloved characters in a hellish dilemma.
We also get an extensive look at Venom, who appears to be a formidable adversary that we should brace ourselves for. A sinister voice speaks to Peter Parker as he gazes over a dark New York City. “We’re going to heal the world,” the voice utters menacingly. I suspect he has a completely different interpretation of the word “heal.”
The story trailer looks stunning. The graphics are impressive, and the action leaps off the screen. Once again, it seems to be an intriguing blend of friendship, love, emotions, and, of course, a massive dose of action.
But That’s Not All!
For Spidey fans, the excitement doesn’t end there. Players can also look forward to the Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Limited Edition PS5 Bundle & DualSense Controller. Those who already own a Playstation 5 won’t have to dig deep into their pockets to get an extra console. The components and the DualSense controller from the Limited Edition are available for separate purchase.
Let’s hope we don’t have to dust off too many spiderwebs on this thing. You can find more information about it here.
