Let’s not beat around the bush. The last few months have been…well, shit. The games offered as bonuses for PlayStation Plus Members lately haven’t really excited me. However, the latest batch of free games for 2023 includes one that I’ll definitely be downloading: A Plague Tale: Requiem. Alongside the sequel to the compelling game A Plague Tale: Innocence, January will also bring Evil West and Nobody Saves the World to players with a PlayStation Plus subscription. All three games will be available for download starting January 2nd.
A Plague Tale: Requiem (PS5)

A Plague Tale’s..tale, follows siblings Amicia and Hugo de Rune. It’s 1348, and the plague ravages the Kingdom of France. The French Inquisition pursues our characters, and your task is to evade, dodge, or take them out (which isn’t easy since Amicia and Hugo aren’t exactly trained action heroes).
Luckily, you do gradually discover special powers linked to your second major obstacle: a plague of massive hordes of rats. Through cool gameplay mechanics and creative use of your environment, you navigate past the inquisition and the rats. Additionally, the mid-14th-century Aquitaine is beautifully crafted, and we encounter various likeable characters who support this emotional adventure.
The third-person action-adventure game was developed by Asobo Studio and has earned multiple awards. In my opinion, rightfully so. Read my full review about the game here.
Evil West (PS4, PS5)

This third-person shooter was developed by Flying Wild Hog and follows vampire slayer Jesse Rentier, an agent of the secret agency known as the Rentier Institute. The game is set in a dark, fantasy-infused version of the Wild West.
Teamed up with Padre, your partner, you confront an ancient evil threatening the world. Battling hordes of vampires and other supernatural monsters, you strive to save humanity from the escalating darkness.
As you engage in action-packed combat and intriguing exploration to rescue mankind, you’ll level up Jesse, acquiring new skills and abilities. This prepares you better to overcome the formidable boss characters.
Nobody Saves the World (PS4, PS5)

Speaking of saving the world, we’re once again facing the reawakening of an ancient evil. The Action RPG Nobody Saves the World (don’t worry, ‘nobody’ is your name) was developed by DrinkBox Studios and is best described as a Hack & Slash dungeon crawler.
You’ll complete quests to discover new transformations. Each transformation comes with its related quests that you can tackle in creative ways. Will you become a SLUG, a GHOST, a DRAGON, or something else entirely? Mix and match skills from different forms, explore the ever-shifting dungeons, and rescue the world.
Since the new three games will be available for download from January 2nd, it means that the games from last month are still free to get until January 1st. These include Lego 2K Drive, Powerwash Simulator, and Sable. If you’re more inclined towards these games than I am, seize the opportunity and grab them quickly.
